Can I Connect My Old Gear To My New TV?

TV's are constantly changing and the technology is always improving.. Nobody wants to get a whole new system each time they upgrade their TV. It would get far too expensive to get all new technology every time you needed a new one.

There are several tricks to connecting your old gear to your new tv, and there also comes a time when you just have to admit it is time to let something go. Read on to learn more about connecting your old home theater equipment to your new television.

Want to watch those old home movies on you new smart tv? Old home movies or any VHS movie can be watched on your new TV. You can connect your old VCR to your new TV, but you will need a converter box between the VCR and the TV. The yellow, red and white lead from the VCR plugs into the input of the converter box. The output of the converter box connects to a HDMI lead. The other end of this lead will plug into one of the HDMI inputs of the TV. This can be confusing, but it is doable. What about your old gaming system? Want to play those old classic games? Shoot the ducks? Jump over some turtles? How about avoiding some pitfalls? Sega, Nintendo, maybe even the Atari?? Yep! It is all possible!

Your older gaming consoles will still work with your fancy new television, you will just need an extra cable. The newest consoles use HDMI, some of the older consoles will use that old RF connector box, an RCA or a coax cable. To use your surround sound system or to play your turntable through your tv, you will want to use an AV receiver. The great thing about a receiver is that it has lots of inputs for audio and video devices, and connecting a turntable is no problem. In fact, many AV receivers have a built-in phono input, allowing you to connect any standard turntable directly.
