What's Your Favorite Christmas Movie - Getting to Know Team Beishir
/You can really learn a lot about someone by asking a simple question…… “what’s your favorite Christmas Movie?” and just like the Island of Misfit Toys, we are a hodgepodge of unique individuals, with interesting answers. I truly enjoyed this opportunity to get to know and understand each member of our team a little better, and I hope that you enjoy getting to know us all a little better too. If you are anything like me, you will find some of these answers interesting, but stick with me, and follow the logic, it’s hard to argue with!
Not surprisingly Rhino and Brian both cited “It’s a Wonderful Life” as their favorite Christmas movie. No hesitation, easy answers from both. Now, if you haven’t had the pleasure of working with either of these gentlemen, know that they are both classics, just like the movie! Kind, generous, and helpful are words that are often used by customers to describe their experience with these guys, and that matches up well with the theme of that movie. It’ s a wonderful life indeed with these guys on the team!
Jason and Joe both shared that Home Alone is their favorite Christmas movie, but it is important enough that they both said “the first one”, without any prompting, because, it was the best! I’m certain, if left to their own antics, they could come up with a booby trap or two. This fun-loving and hardworking duo could keep the “Wet Badits” occupied.
James, our resident mobile lighting expert said “Polar Express” is his favorite. James loves everything about Christmas lights and recently decorated our van and drove us in 2 local “Glow Parades” because, after all, “It’s So Much Fun When Christmas Comes To Town.”
Whenever someone raises the is-Die-Hard-a-Christmas-movie debate I can’t help but wonder where they’ve been? I thought this was decided, but I patiently explain myself again…. the office Christmas party, the snow, the Christmas music, and of course, the Santa hat.
Megan said “White Christmas” as her answer, but then changed it to Die Hard after hearing the argument that it was, in fact a Christmas movie. Those are 2 very different movies, but we don’t judge. Matt also had 2 favorites, Elf and Die Hard. Again….. very different but they both bring different holiday cheer.
I, personally am torn when it comes to this questions because I have always loved the classic “Christmas Story”. Watching Ralphie shoot his eye out each year is a highlight of my season, but as the mom of 3 boys, at this time of year, with all of the hustle and the bustle……Die Hard is also a favorite. Sometimes you just need a good shoot-em-up movie to get through the season, and this checks the box!
My most interesting answer came from Tim. “Gremlins” Me, looking perplexed…….”Uh, I’m going to need some explanation on how that is a Christmas movie”
Tim, “Well the Gremlin was a Christmas gift I think.”
I was intrigued, so I looked into it and this is the official description of the movie: Part horror and part dark comedy, “Gremlins” is the cult classic with a storyline built on the premise of a father trying to find a Christmas present for his son. The gift he finds turns out to be a “mogwai,” a creature that spawns mischievous and dangerous little monsters. Grim and violent, the film upset many parents who brought their children to movie theaters.
John is a big fan of the Muppet’s version of A Christmas Carol. Who isn’t? One look at that Kermit Tiny Tim and even the biggest Scrooge’s heart would melt.
Dave, started with the classic Christmas Story as his answer but later changed it to Star Wars. When I questioned him as to the authenticity of his choice of Star Wars as a Christmas movie, his response challenged everything I know. “If I watch it on Christmas, it’s a Christmas movie.” Touche, Dave….. you win.
Stop by Mark’s house any day during November and you will see him passing down his joy of all things “outdoor illumination” to one of his children as he sets up his light show. Swing by again any night from December 1-January 3 to see why he’s been listed on the light tour as Griswold. Not surprisingly, his favorite Christmas movie is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
He’s not alone in that choice though, you also will find Ted, Jay, Paul, Ben, and Steve on the list with that as their selection. Nobody can get enough of the Griswold’s around here and we certainly have a lot in common with the “jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse." So, Mele Kalikimaka from all of us at Beishir!
