What Defines You? 

That’s a great question, and you’ve likely found yourself wondering this at various times in your life. For most people, the answer probably focuses a lot around your values and those things that are most important to you. You can reflect on those values and often see how they have guided you through the decisions you have made and what has brought you to today. 

For a business, the answer can often be the same. But being able to put that into words and a message that is adopted throughout your organization can be extremely challenging! Determining a clear set of “core values” that apply to everyone and everything that you do takes work, a lot of work, but the benefits from doing so are exponential! 

This process involves working with your entire team, hours of meetings, discussions, reflections, understanding, compromise and commitment. And in the end, that journey is really just the beginning, because then you start the process of communicating these ideals to your team and live them through all of your interactions with each other, your customers, your vendors and everyone that you encounter. 

Your core values become the filter that decisions flow through and the benchmark that you hold yourself and your organization accountable to.
